Benedetto Ullano. Since then, without any maintenance, for
the hermit chapel the inevitable decline began.
The scars that one can notice on the fresco are both ancient
and modern. The most recent ones date back to 1995 and
2004, caused by villains who
have further sullied and heavily
damaged even more the sacred
image with inscriptions made
by spray cans and by a
sledgehammer or a pickaxe as
one can see at the bottom.
Perhaps they were looking for a
suspected tunnel connecting
the hermitage to the church, just
behind the large cabinet of 1700
placed in the sacristy.
A holy place that deserves to emerge from oblivion.
